my musical journey

For over twenty years, I worked behind the scenes as a ghost producer, creating music that reached wide audiences. Over time, however, the Lord brought me to a sobering realization: much of the music I was producing was aimed at gratifying the flesh rather than glorifying God. Though the craft itself was not the problem, my purpose and the message behind it were misaligned with the truths of Scripture. That conviction led me to step away from music entirely.

Even after distancing myself from production, my appreciation for electronic music never disappeared. For a season, EDM had become entangled with distraction and misplaced affection in my spiritual walk, so I chose to avoid it, believing that faithfulness required separation from what had once drawn my heart away. At that time, this restraint was both necessary and wise.

Everything began to change when I studied worship more carefully through the lens of God’s Word. I came to understand that worship is not defined by musical style or instrumentation, but by the truth it proclaims and the heart that offers it in obedience to God. What I had once viewed as incompatible with faith, the Lord showed me could instead be governed by truth and redirected toward His glory.

Out of this renewed understanding, Talmid was born—not as a return to my former path, but as a redirection of it. The same skills and musical language that once pointed inward are now, by God’s grace, being turned upward. My aim is no longer self-expression, but Christ-exaltation: creating music that reflects the hope of the gospel, celebrates the work of Christ, and encourages others to consider His truth.

Every sound, like every gift, belongs ultimately to the Lord. When placed under His authority and shaped by His Word, even what was once misused can be reclaimed for a better purpose. My prayer is that this work would not draw attention to me, but to Christ, who alone makes all things new.

All of Talmid’s music is composed, produced, and arranged from the ground up with intentionality and prayer. Each track is shaped by engagement with Scripture and informed by historic Christian doctrine, seeking not only to be musically compelling but to communicate biblical truth with faithfulness and clarity.

Rather than using electronic music as a backdrop for vague spiritual themes, Talmid’s work draws directly from the narrative of Scripture, the character of God, and the central doctrines of the Christian faith. Melodies, rhythms, and lyrics are crafted to reflect truths such as redemption, grace, God’s sovereignty, worship, and hope—expressed through contemporary sound while preserving their theological meaning.

This approach treats EDM not merely as entertainment, but as a medium for proclamation and reflection. It seeks to echo the Psalms’ call to praise God with every instrument and to set forth the gospel in a musical language shaped by modern culture. The aim is not to replace the worship of the gathered church, but to create music that is biblically grounded, spiritually intentional, and creatively disciplined—where modern sound is placed in service of ancient truth.
